Today, Manticore welcomed The Hidden Genius Project!
The Hidden Genius Project’s mission is to train and mentor black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities.
Their mission resonates with one of Manticore’s core principles, which is to bring a whole new generation of creators to gaming.
I had the chance to get to know and support the organization over the last year so it was a natural fit for their students, known as Hidden Geniuses, to be the first youth group to visit our headquarters.
All of the Geniuses are gamers, and we wanted to show them all aspects of game development as well as the potential career opportunities.
In that aim, we organized a few presentations and panel sessions on the topics of game design, engineering, art, animation, music, production, etc. with not only Manticore employees but also with African American friends from the gaming industry that we had invited for the occasion.
The Geniuses also got a sneak peek at Core with a live and interactive demo led by Jordan Maynard, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at Manticore Games.
It was obvious that all the learning and skills the Geniuses have developed thanks to The Hidden Genius Project were directly applicable to their visit and to what we do.
We really had a blast and felt privileged welcoming a new generation of creators to gaming and to Manticore! Maybe some will even be interns here next summer! :-)
Most importantly, we wanted to tell the Geniuses that they have friends in gaming, and that we’ll always be here to support them if they decide to pursue games as a career path.
Thanks to The Hidden Genius Project for visiting Manticore Games! Hope to see you all again soon!
